The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One specified condition is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgement, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of the copyright law.
Copyright payment must be paid for requests delivered to academic institutions outside the United States, individuals and forprofit entities. If you are concerned about copyright costs, please designate a maximum fee you are willing to pay for your request. For online requests, you may do this by using the Maxcost feature on our request form. If copyright costs would cause the fee for your request to exceed your maxcost you will be notified before your request is processed. You may also email the library at requests@lindahall.org to request the copyright fee for a paper.
Please read the terms and conditions for electronically delivered requests.
